The theme was bowling so I ran with it and came up with this – it was fun to work on. FYI – I crossed out the RSVP info line out of respect for my friend’s privacy. I left it in mainly to provide a sense of the layout.

I created Lovechild as an amalgamation of several favourite typefaces and to use in my collaboration with illustrator Pomme Chan… I created the piece first in illustrator, then using watercolours at A2 size. I then turned the piece over to Pomme who embellished it in her unique style…

I’ve always loved Sanna Annukka’s work. She’s half Finnish and half English but most of her work seems to be shaped by her Finnish background. You can kinda see it stylistically in the various projects she’s worked on. The folksy characteristics of her illustrations have been influenced by “Finland’s national epic known as The Kalevala, a collection of folklore songs.” I think her work has stood out to me because of that fact.
